C.A.S.A.
Ventura County, California

Why is there a registration fee?

This basic administrative fee covers the C.A.S.A. budgeted expenses each year such as, but not limited to, liability insurance, office supplies, C.A.S.A. events, and postage.

Why do you require Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) membership?

We hold to the standards of the HSLDA and strongly believe it is to the benefit of all homeschooling families to be part of HSLDA, both to support that organization financially, and to be under the umbrella of protection it provides its members.  We require our members to have HSDLA membership at the time of registration.

Tell me about the C.A.S.A. leadership team.

The leadership team is a group of Christian volunteer moms and dads, who have been involved in developing C.A.S.A. from the beginning.  Being part of the leadership team requires a willingness to volunteer many hours of service overseeing the direction and policies of the organization, leading other volunteers, offering support and encouragement, planning events and structuring tutorials.  C.A.S.A. is a volunteer intensive organization.

How do you decide which tutorials to offer?

C.A.S.A., at its core, is a support group for homeschooling families. We understand that we cannot meet all the needs or wants of homeschooling families; however, we provide a well-rounded selection of tutorials to assist families in educating their children. Each year, we evaluate which tutorials to offer. We consider the general needs of most homeschooling families, and the availability of facilities, tutors and volunteers.

How do you select tutors?

We find most of our tutors by referral, while others may be qualified C.A.S.A. members. The C.A.S.A. Leadership Team chooses tutors after a thorough application process.  We require that C.A.S.A. tutors fully agree with our statement of faith, support our philosophy of ministry, adequately understand the subject matter, and competently tutor students.  We have often been blessed to use tutors who are retired from their field of expertise.  We look for those who are passionate about their subject area.
